Google Play users have downloaded more than 50 billion apps, CEO Larry Page revealed during the company's second quarter earnings call Thursday.
Google announced at its I/O developers conference in May that people had downloaded 48 billion apps. Around the same time, Apple announced that its App Store hit the 50 billion app-download milestone.
Page also noted during the call that more money has been paid out to app developers in the first half of this year than it was in all of last year, marking the growth of the Android app market.
