Printed Copies of Reference Information for AP Exams
We heard that the experience of toggling between reference information and questions in Bluebook for select STEM exams was very frustrating for some students in week 1. As a result, AP coordinators are strongly encouraged to provide students with printed copies of reference information on exam day for applicable exams.
Week 2 exams, late-testing exams, and exception exams:
- AP Biology
- AP Chemistry
- AP Computer Science A
- AP Computer Science Principles
- AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based
- AP Physics 2: Algebra-Based
- AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism
- AP Physics C: Mechanics
- AP Statistics
What to know:
- This updated policy supersedes previously published information about reference information for 2025 digital AP Exams.
- Schools are not required to provide students with printed reference information but are strongly encouraged to do so.
- Only the specific reference information for the exams, linked above, may be printed and distributed to students on exam day. Any other reference materials are not permitted.
- Each of the 4 AP Physics Exams has its own reference information. AP coordinators and proctors of Physics exams should take care to ensure that the correct reference information is provided to students on exam day.
Exam day procedures:
- The proctor should distribute the reference information along with other testing materials, either before or after students are seated.
- When students have finished writing their name, date, and exam name on their scratch paper, the proctor should ask them to write their name and the date on the first page of their reference information. The proctor should ask students to raise their hand if the reference information they have does not match the exam so the proctor can assist them.
- Students can write on the reference information, if they choose. Anything written on those pages will not be scored. They are not permitted to take the reference information from the exam room during the break or after the exam.
- Proctors should collect all copies of the reference information and return them to the AP coordinator. The AP coordinator should keep the reference information in secure storage for 30 days in case of any test security investigations. After 30 days, they should be securely destroyed.
