Subject: firefox: Hardware video encoding is no longer working
Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2022 11:44:59 +0200
Package: firefox
Version: 101.0.1-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]

Issue: high CPU load when using Google Meet with webcam active. Disabling video drops load dramatically. Initially upgrading to Firefox v 100 disabled *all* hardware acceleration and made FF run in WebRender (Software), but that got resolved by forcing WebRender in about:config.

Since when: since update last week and switch from pipewire to wireplumber.

Notes: binary build from Mozilla is not affected, only the package from Unstable.
