Under RHEL3, pressing "home" or "end" makes less go to top or bottom of
the current file. Using exactely the same gnome-terminal on my debian
machine (in fact I ssh to the debian machine) "home" and "end" don't
work in less. "pgup" and "pgdown" still work though.

Architecture: i386 (x86_64)
Shell:  /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash
Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-2-amd64-k8
Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8@euro, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8@euro (charmap=UTF-8)

Versions of packages less depends on:
ii  debianutils                   2.15.1     Miscellaneous utilities specific t
ii  libc6                         2.3.5-8.1  GNU C Library: Shared libraries an
ii  libncurses5                   5.5-1      Shared libraries for terminal hand

less recommends no packages.

Hi,

this is very likely caused by ssh/the terminal settings. "home" and "end"
both work fine here on my Debian system (kde konsole).

Probably more programs than just less are having problems with those keys?
Like maybe the shell command line? Do you have mappings defined in your
/etc/inputrc?
