Package: cron
Version: 3.0pl1-116
Severity: wishlist
According to crontab(7) there's no possibility to write cronjobs which
are independent of local DST regulations if the local time of the system
uses a timezone with a DST rule.
An elegant and backwards-compatible solution for this problem seems to
me the patch by Björn Danielsson as published on
http://widell.net/scripts/bd/dst/.
I therefore would appreciate if this patch would be applied to Debian's
version of cron.

on that page, the link to the patch is dead: I do get the general idea
though, and think it has merit.
As with the other feature enhancements currently under consideration,
it'll have to wait until we finally upgrade cron to 4.1, which is
(still) going to take a while.

Hi Christian,
some time ago I have downloaded Björn Danielsson patch and I use it
systematically in Debian - very useful.
In the attachments please find the original patch from the page mentioned
by Axel and a new version, recently updated by me to work with wheezy.
Please consider including this patch in the Debian cron.
Best wishes,
Piotr

Hi,
in my previous e-mail I have attached patch version for wheezy with one
line missing what I found yesterday, applying the patch at next Debian
server.
I am attaching the corrected version, it works on Debian Wheezy.
I think this patch, originally by Björn Danielsson, is of great value, when
it is necessary to keep some cron jobs strictly periodic in UTC and some
jobs synchronized with the local time.
Sorry for sending faulty patch in my previous mail.
Best regards,
PAD
