Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-1+b1
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental upstream
Gnome-shell memory usage si constantly growing up during usage. After three days of use, memory is about 400Mo used, which is far too much compared to initial memory usage. Reloading gnome-shell (alt-F2 then "r") results in the new process taking about 60Mo.
There is an open bug upstream at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=642652
I'll provide a valgrind trace as soon as possible.

I am running gnome-shell 3.2.2.1 (64 bit) with mutter 3.2.2.1 and can
confirm this.
Mem use is about 60 MB after login and then steadily builds up (I've
seen 280 MB). After "Alt-F2 -> r" it's back to normal (60 MB).
Plain vanilla gnome, no extensions.

Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.4.2-6
Followup-For: Bug #638437
Hi,
Please revert the patch. The dead-lock still occurs at the same rate as before.
Only now 10 minutes after login like the garbage collection patch suggests. I
rather have it in a lock state at login then 10 minutes after that. Because
then I already have done some work which are then lost. Thanks for making
gnome-shell more stable! But this patch is not doing the trick.
Kind regards,
Kees

I can still not reproduce the deadlocks.
Do you use gkrellm or something similar? This was what triggered the bug
for another user.
Cheers,

Yeah, me neither.

The output of find /etc/xdg/autostart/ /usr/share/gnome/autostart/
~/.config/autostart/ might also be helpful

I do use 'conky', it's about the same as 'gkrellm'.

I've been running conky for a day now, without a deadlock. I could try
your ~/.conkyrc, but somehow I doubt it's conky causing this.
