Package: wicd-gtk
Version: 1.7.1-1
Severity: normal
See attached screenshot. The UI contradicts itself, stating both
"connecting" and "connected". This remains up as long as wicd-client is
running, and worse this causes a constant stream of activity, which
keeps wicd itself eating about 10% of CPU. This CPU usage vanishes
when wicd-client is stopped.
It may be relevant that the network I've connected to is an ad-hoc wifi
network.
wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"hollow"
Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.412 GHz Cell: AA:AA:AA:AA:AA:AA
Tx-Power=13 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Power Management:off
It has a dhcp server on it, which wicd uses. I tried turning off the option to
ping gateways after connection, but that did not help.
As far as I can see, there are no hooks or scripts still being run by wicd.
The relevant processes:
8352 ? S 0:00 /sbin/wpa_supplicant -u -s -O /var/run/wpa_supplicant
9214 ? S 1:21 /usr/bin/python -O /usr/share/wicd/daemon/wicd-daemon.py
9228 ? S 0:29 \_ /usr/bin/python -O /usr/share/wicd/daemon/monitor.py
31738 ? Ss 0:00 /sbin/dhclient -v wlan0
I also tried wicd-curses. It reports:
Connected to hollow at ??% (IP: 10.1.1.2)
Note: Same network upon which #644286 used to happen. I suppose this new
behavior is a slight improvement over the old..
