If you receive a call from someone asking for credit card information or other personal data, please end the call. To report fraudulent or specious activity, please call the Times Union Classified Advertising Department at (518) 454-5000. Please protect all personal data and never give out financial information or your social security number, and never wire funds.

Avoid the scams by following these simple guidelines:
DEAL WITH PEOPLE YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON IN A PUBLIC PLACE.
Do not conduct business with someone who claims they are in a rush to leave the country or are already out of the country.
NEVER WIRE FUNDS
Don't use any wire service including Western Union and Money Gram (or Paypal, Venmo, etc.).
NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
Bank account number, social security number
