著作郎是中国古代官名。 三国魏明帝于太和中始置著作郎一职官，属中书省，负责撰述国史。下设有著作佐郎、校书郎、正字等。晋朝改属秘书省，改名称叫大著作郎。南朝后期为贵族子弟初任之官职。魏晋及南北朝多以著作郎兼修《起居注》，北魏始置「起居令史」专修《起居注》。唐代亦设有著作郎，仍属秘书省，高宗龙朔年间秘书省改称司文局，不久著作郎又改称司文郎中，咸亨元年（670年）十二月，皆复旧称。著作郎在唐朝主要工作是创作碑志、祝文、祭文，当时善撰文者被称为「大手笔」。其中张说和苏頲在当时更称「燕许大手笔」。北宋元丰三年，因元丰改制，改为寄禄官，徒有头衔而无职事，时人称大著。明朝以后废除。
