According to the ancient writings, Zhao Ming ( Zhāo Míng; ? – ?) was a Chinese noble man in ancient China. He was an ancestor of the Shang dynasty and ruler of the Predynastic Shang. His family name was Zi (子).

His father was Xie of Shang, born in Shangqiu (商丘), Henan (河南). Among the twelve ancestors of the King Tang of Shang, Zhao Ming was the second-generation king of the Shang Kingdom.

After the death of Xie, Zhao Ming inherited the throne and expanded the spread of civilization. After his death, his son Xiang Tu succeeded to the throne.

昭明（？ - ？），子姓，名昭明，契之子，相土之父，商湯的十二世祖。商部族的第二任首領。雖然司馬遷著《史記·殷本紀》時，有提到他，不過沒有描述其的事蹟。

契因協助禹處理洪水完畢，被虞舜擔任司徒一職，負責掌管教育人民的權力，同時封於商（今陝西省商縣），使商部族因此誕生。契死後，昭明繼位，昭明死後，相土繼位。因昭明只見于晚出的書，且記載甚少，所以比較可疑，很可能是後人為了湊足「十有四世而興」隨意攙入的。

近來，學者鄭慧生認為，「昭明相土昌若曹圉」是一句典誥古語，與《堯典》「百姓昭明協和萬邦」是一類的話，古人不慎，將其變做人名羼入《世本》，太史公不察，將其摭入《本紀》，昭明、相土、昌若、曹圉四位商族的先公並不存在；而蔡哲茂受此啟發，考証後認為後人誤解《荀子》中「生昭明」之意，將形容詞「昭明」誤以為人名，而戰國末趙人編纂《世本》將其採入，以致混淆。

丁山認為甲骨文之「囧」便是昭明。江林昌認為這是對「囧」字的誤讀。金相同、蔡哲茂等學者認為甲骨文之「岳」即指昭明。認為卜辭中有同音假借現象，如陽甲寫作「羊甲」、「羌甲」，甲骨文「岳」字從羊從火（或從山，甲骨文中「山」、「火」形近，難以判定），假借「羊」音代表「陽」、「日」。
