31  | 十四年，擢廣東巡撫。十六年，署兩廣總督。廣西巡撫舒輅請於思陵土州沿邊種竻竹，杜私越；土目因以侵夷地致釁。蘇昌奏：「鎮安、太平、南寧等沿邊二千餘里，無論種竹難遍。料理稍疏，事端轉啟，請更正。」上責舒輅輕率，寢其事。蘇昌奏：「瓊州海外瘠區，貧民生計艱難，有可墾荒地二百五十餘頃，請招民開墾，免其升科。」從之。召來京。十九年，授吏部侍郎。 |
