《卷一百六十六 元稹（龐嚴附）白居易（弟行簡 敏中附）》
81  | 時天子荒縱不法，執政非其人，制御乖方，河朔復亂。居易累上疏論其事，天子不能用，乃求外任。七月，除杭州刺史。俄而元稹罷相，自馮翊轉浙東觀察使。交契素深，杭、越鄰境，篇詠往來，不間旬浹。嘗會於境上，數日而別。秩滿，除太子左庶子，分司東都。寶歷中，復出為蘇州刺史。文宗即位，徵拜秘書監，賜金紫。九月上誕節，召居易與僧惟澄、道土趙常盈對御講論於麟德殿。居易論難鋒起，辭辨泉注，上疑宿構，深嗟挹之。太和二年正月，轉刑部侍郎，封晉陽縣男，食邑三百戶。三年，稱病東歸，求為分司官，尋除太子賓客。 |
