《列傳第二百十七 西域一》
6  | 四年春，甘肅總兵官宋晟奏，脫脫為祖母所逐。帝怒，敕責其頭目曰：「脫脫朝廷所立，即有過，不奏而擅逐之，是慢朝廷也。老人昏耄，頭目亦不知朝廷耶？即迎歸，善匡輔，俾孝事祖母。」由是脫脫得還，祖母及頭目各遣使謝罪。三月立哈密衛，以其頭目馬哈麻火者等為指揮、千百戶等官，又以周安為忠順王長史，劉行為紀善，輔導。冬，授頭目十九人為都指揮等官。 |
| 7 | 明年，宋晟奏，頭目陸十等作亂，已誅，慮他變，請兵防禦。帝命晟發兵應之，而以安克帖木兒妻子往依鬼力赤，恐誘賊侵哈密，敕晟謹備。晟卒，以何福代，又敕福開誠撫忠順。會頭目請設把總一人理國政，帝敕福曰：「置把總，是增一王也；政令不一，下安適從。」寢其議。自是，比歲朝貢，悉加優賜，其使臣皆增秩授官。 |
| 49 | 永樂四年五月命鴻臚丞劉帖木兒護別失八里使者歸，因齎彩幣賜其王子哈散。明年遣使貢玉璞方物。使臣言，回回行賈京師者，甘、涼軍士多私送出境，洩漏邊務。帝命御史往按，且敕總兵官宋晟嚴束之。七年遣使偕哈烈、撒馬兒罕來貢。十一年夏，都指揮白阿兒忻台遣使偕俺的乾、失剌思等九國來貢。秋，命陳誠、李暹等以璽書、文綺、紗羅、布帛往勞。十三年冬，遣使隨誠來貢。自是久不至。正統十三年復貢，後遂絕。 |
