3  | 漢張敞為京兆尹，無威儀。時罷朝會，過走馬章台街，在長安中章台下街也。使御史驅，自以便面拊馬，便面，所以障面，蓋之類也。不欲見人，以此自障面，則得其便，故曰便面，亦曰屏面。又為婦畫眉。長安中傳張京兆尹眉嫵，嫵，音詡。北方人謂媚好為「詡」。畜，又音舞。嫵，好媚也。有司以奏敞，帝問之，對曰：「臣聞閨房之內，夫婦之私，有過於畫眉者，帝愛其能，弗備責也，然終不得大位。 |
