17  | 又檢《呂氏春秋·似順論》云：「漆淖、水淖，合兩淖則為蹇，濕之則為乾。金柔、錫柔，合兩柔則為剛，燔之則為淖。」此化學之所自出也。《淮南子·主術訓》曰：「眾智所為，則無不成也。千人之羣無絕梁，萬人之聚無廢功。」西國各學各事之所以能勝人者，率用此術，即其用人行政之有議院，工商諸務之有公司，亦合眾智以為智，眾能以為能，所以鮮有敗事也。《氾論訓》云：「老槐生火，久血為燐」。此即西人所言原質化合之理，亦化學也。《說林訓》曰：「蔭不祥之木，為雷電所撲。」此即西人避電氣之說也。《地形訓》云：「北方有不釋之冰。」蓋即今之北冰海云。 |
