1  | 台灣古未隸中國版圖。隋開皇中，虎賁陳棱略澎湖三十六島；元末置澎湖巡司。明永樂時，太監鄭和舟下東西洋，至東番，其國人所居名雞籠山，即台灣地。嘉靖末，遭倭寇焚掠，稍稍避居山後。神宗末，荷蘭國紅毛番遭颶風，泊舟於此；愛其地，築城居之；複築赤崁樓與相望，設市城外。而漳、泉商賈往往前往漁利，屹然為海外一隩區矣。天啟初，東洋甲螺顏思齊寇海上，福建南安人鄭芝龍附之，據臺灣。自是劇盜繼起，皆倚為固。崇禎時，熊文燦招芝龍降，而海上諸寇猖獗如故，終明之世，迄未就平。 |
