6  | 其於人也亦然。人聲之精者為言，文辭之於言，又其精也，尤擇其善鳴者而假之鳴。其在唐虞，咎陶、禹其善鳴者也，而假以鳴。夔弗能以文辭鳴，又自假於《韶》以鳴。夏之時，五子以其歌鳴。伊尹鳴殷，周公鳴周。凡載於《詩》《書》六藝，皆鳴之善者也。周之衰，孔子之徒鳴之，其聲大而遠。《傳》曰：「天將以夫子為木鐸。」其弗信矣乎！其末也，莊周以其荒唐之辭鳴。楚，大國也，其亡也以屈原鳴。臧孫辰、孟軻、荀卿以道鳴者也。楊朱、墨翟、管夷吾、晏嬰、老聃、申不害、韓非、岬健⑻鐓欏⒆捫堋⑹佼、孫武、張儀、蘇秦之屬，皆以其術鳴。秦之興，李斯鳴之。漢之時，司馬遷、相如、揚雄，最其善鳴者也。其下魏、晉氏，鳴者不及於古，然亦未嘗絕也。就其善者，其聲清以浮，其節數以急，其詞淫以哀，其志弛以肆，其為言也，亂雜而無章。將天醜其德，莫之顧耶？何為乎不鳴其善鳴者也？ |
