The title is "Intravenous psilocybin attenuates mechanical hypersensitivity in a rat model of chronic pain", which makes a lot more sense than what the current article title seems to want to say.
For what? Pain relief? If you're in so much pain you require oxycodone, chances are if you take mushrooms instead you're going into bad trip territory near instantly.
LSD and psilocybin both have well-documented pain suppression effects.
It is well known among the older ones out there who have taken these. Just ask any 60s/70s hippy. Pain relief would be an obvious application for these drugs from their (and my) points of view.
I am not doubting that. I am sure there are pain suppression effects. I am talking about the changed mental state of being under the influence of psychedelics and how it can be an incredibly "sensitive" mental state. Being in pain while tripping, doesn't sound so good to me (as a younger one, who have taken them before).
Better to link the actual study, no? The Daily Mail site is a nightmare of ads, and the text of the article doesn't actually present the relevant evidence.
