Enterprise frontend and backend development, all Typescript. TS is easily the most productive language I've ever used (professionally worked in Java, then Javascript, with some Ruby and PHP). It scales from no-types JS to architecture astronaut seamlessly. You only have to use what's useful to you. My only hangups were esoteric type errors, but AI made this go away (mostly with more specific explanations of the issue).

We ported our webapps from JS to Typescript a while back, and I hate having to read untyped code, even (maybe especially) the stuff written by our best coders, even my own code. You have to run the code in your head just to understand the shape of "order".

I would never go back, I cannot fathom the resistance in the JS community.

I'm ambivalent about a Federal minimum wage, it's probably mostly harmless, and maybe helps people at the margin. But. No minimum wage allows small businesses to hire the unhireable (eg. teenagers), which gives them a first step on the wage ladder.

I looked up Wisconsin wage stats in Gemini[1].

Wage Bracket (Hourly) Estimated Percentage of Jobs Wage Bracket (Annual)

Under $12.29 Approximately 13% Under $25,560

$12.29 to $15.27 Approximately 13% $25,560 to $31,771

$15.28 to $18.26 Approximately 16% $31,772 to $37,983

$18.26 to $21.25 Approximately 14% $37,984 to $44,195

$21.25 to $24.23 Approximately 11% $44,196 to $50,407

$24.23 to $27.22 Approximately 10% $50,408 to $56,619

$27.22 to $30.21 Approximately 8% $56,620 to $62,831

$30.21 to $33.19 Approximately 5% $62,832 to $69,044

$33.19 to $36.18 Approximately 5% $69,045 to $75,256

$36.18 to $39.17 Approximately 4% $75,257 to $81,468

$39.17 to $42.15 Approximately 4% $81,469 to $87,680

$42.15 to $45.14 Approximately 4% $87,681 to $93,893

$45.14 and over Data not specifically itemized in this format, but represents the remaining percentage of jobs $93,893 and over

Simple competition likely drives wages well above the State mandated minimum wage.

I've assumed that some part of Waymo's magic is in the curation of the maps and the on-the-ground details of a particular area.

We'll have to see if FSD can put up the same numbers with strict fencing to well-defined and well-maintained urban areas.

(I generally have at least one intervention per trip, but my daily commute takes me down some poorly maintained/semi-rural roads)

I'm Old, but this is me. Marketplace is big improvement over Craigslist, it's the only reason I have a FB account.

I hesitate to call it an improvement. The search is garbage, and you get tons of shit you didn't even search for, and the filters don't work.

Yeah CL is dead by comparison, and everything is listed on Marketplace, but better? I dunno.

100%. I got pulled into Old School Revival TTRPGs there. It was smaller and quieter, and in the sections I read mostly free of politics and other noise. I miss the "anti-social network".

That title is interesting. I've heard the corollary that the social justice/identity politics of the 2010s through Peak Woke is what awakened a "white" identity in the US.

The MAGAs responded to the "sins of the fathers" narrative by accepting and celebrating their identity. Unintended consequences.

People who fight against racism know full well that doing so incites the racists to action. Confronting them head-on is an intended consequence.

100%. I've used them for the last few years, and it's as easy as it can be for normie taxes (things can break down if you get into Schedules, but maybe I should have hired an accountant).

I used to be a hardcore "the government should stop playing 'I'm thinking of a number' and just tell me what I owe", but the rise of these internet tax apps has kind of obviated the need. And with multiple competitors, you can even check the others work.

I have only briefly had a Facebook, maybe 2 or 3 times, most recently to sell/giveaway a bunch of stuff before a house move.

It was simple, easy, and reliable.

Data point of one: I'm older, and my experience with the apps was more than mostly positive. I hadn't dated in years, and with the exception of a couple clunkers, all my dates were fun and friendly. In every match, there was a lot of texting, and I put in a lot of effort.

Nobody was a swimsuit model, but I'm not either. I might be I've crossed the threshold where looks are less important than personality (looks are still important!).

Everyone I dated mentioned that their experience with the apps mostly sucked though.

Violence = actual illegal physical violence or (legal) credible threat of illegal physical violence by individuals, or legal state-authorized physical violence or seizure of assets (policy).

> Is publicly mocking people for having a different culture violence? no

> Is calling for harm upon them? maybe

> Is, through policy, causing harm to them violence? maybe

> Is it violence if it's through willful inaction? no
