Your statement made me think. Looking at my friends, family, and colleagues, I can think of 2 small groups where your statement fits. The rest, I feel, do seek to understand and empathize. In my case, it is the minority.

One reason is that his reasons might resonate with others and add value. It did with me.

Putting 'Dvorak' in the title would have saved me some time.

I'd upvote you twice if I could. I actually audibly groaned when I saw who the author was. Didn't even read the article, I knew it was going to be full of crap. I can't believe I graced him with a pageview. Ugh.

Sorry, I see a lot of people don't care for Dvorak, I probably should have put his name in the title. I do think he occasionally has something interesting to say. Simple, clean, fast is why I've used Google and I think that is primarily what has made them a success. If they complicate their applications, will that be a detriment to their business? That's an important question.

I was going to leave a snarky comment but yours saved me some time.

Do you mind telling what dosages you were taking? Thank you.

36 mg concerta daily in the morning it usually keeps me on 12 hours or so.

or a 10mg ritalin which keeps the effect about 5 hours or so so I can take another if it will be a long nigth, taking concerta in the nigth is not a good idea because you will burn out and wont be able to sleep if you decide to.

Concerta is a small container with a laser drilled hole and a constant delivery mechanism for 12 hours or so and ritalin is bumpier on the dosage but concerta is more expensive about 120$ in Turkey for a month worth refill where ritalin is only 20$ for a month excluding the doctors fee which is 150$ so it costs around 200$ for a month and no insurance scheme covers it.

Great cause. Looking forward to learning how they attack the problem.

From a personal stand point, I can't tell you now much relief/satisfaction I get since eliminating debt (outside of a mortgage) or how much stress I get when the occasional short term debt comes about (which motivates me to eliminate it).

They mention debt as a 'hair on fire' problem. What are some others?

Have you directly brought these issues to his attention? If you haven't...

I'd list the items that are bothering you most and how'd you like to have them resolved. Maybe run it by a trusted friend - someone who will be directly honest with you. Then, break the list into two categories - can live with it and can't live with it. For the former, make like a duck - let them roll off your back. Just shrug your shoulders, roll your eyes, and say 'Oh that <cofounder name> is silly'. For the later, I'd look to directly address your partner in a manner that is meaningful to him. If you come to some consensus, set ways to monitor it to see if things are improving.

After this, you will have accomplished 2 things. One, you took ownership of the situation in a mature and constructive manner. This helps, especially if things don't work out, since you know you gave it your best (read: less regrets). Two, you'll have a better idea of how likely things are to improve.

If you have done this and things are not working, then look at the options. Is it worth sticking it out? If not, list your options. Often times, the black and white options (quit cold turkey and stick it out) are not the best. Consider options like decreasing your role, decreasing his, bringing in a third party (e.g. a design guy), having distinct boundaries of responsibilities, or you taking over the design element.

If it is time to part ways, I'm sure you'll do it in a professional manner that doesn't burn bridges.

Best wishes.

Well done! Incredibly intuitive. The image add/text alignment is great and html editing to boot. Can you tell if many users have added google analytics?

Actually, the editor strips out Javascript for safety reasons which unfortunately, makes it so users can't add GA. We're working out whether we should make exceptions when we do the strip or provide in-house stats.

Why not just accept the GA id in the settings page and inject the code at the right place yourselves?

Though simple in-house page view stats would probably work better for 99% of your target audience than having to sign up for GA.

+1 - this'd be _way_ more compelling for me if it had some sort of analytics integration. Doesn't _need_ to be Google Analytics, but that's probably the easiest choice...

(perhaps there's a business opportunity, do a deal with someone like getclicky.com - have a simple signup/installation of their tracking code in exchange for a revenue share...)

Really interesting! Looking forward to see how it progresses, the applications, and if it become reasonable/affordable for small scale/home use.

great point ErrantX. I also believe his simple, humble approach to communicating is genius! He gets his points across to a wide audience and lays a foundation to open-minded, constructive discussion.

absolutely fantastic! Thank you blhack - just what I needed - Hilarious!
