Hey bub, I think part of the challenge here is you have some hangups and prejudices about “normal” that are not serving you. Your narrative dismisses categories of human beings, as beneath you or not worth considering as people to connect with in a meaningful way. You also dismiss therapy but getting an outside point of view could help you examine some of these assumptions about who you are and who others are. It sounds like those are barriers to the connection you seek.

> Your narrative dismisses categories of human beings, as beneath you or not worth considering as people to connect with in a meaningful way.

There is value in this. If OP has had nothing but negative experiences with said people, it's good he knows to avoid them.

This article starts by making a hilarious strawman. I clicked through to see if it was as hilarious as suspected, and it was. Which is great. Clearly Moxie did not mean “literally no single person wants to run a server” I mean come on. It is trivially true that “people” don’t want to run a server. It would be hard to generalize the category of “people” in a way to come to any other conclusion.

Exactly. Worst article ever. The writer is either very silly or completely disingenuous.

If a writer had to caveat every statement to be 100% accurate, they'd never get finished or if they did it would be so boring no one would read it. I want to caveat this with - some articles would get finished and some tiny percentage of them would actually get read. If you are still reading at this point, I guess I'm thankful for the caveat because it's now proven to be true. Let me caveat - "proven" is used in a non-scientific manner here because the above isn't strictly a proof. It's just a common sense usage of the word. Let me caveat "common": I'm speculating that it's common sense because it seems sensible to me and I feel like a common person.

This is bog standard clean tech skepticism warmed up and ladled over a recent event for a newshook. And solar power doesn’t work when the suns not shining. Ok.

If anybody is looking for a vc-backed startup with deep MN roots, connect with me about Civic Eagle. Email is jesse@

Definitely have had some similar experiences though overall I have to say it hasn’t been a barrier to hiring and interfacing with tech folks from the coasts. Our MN team members are extra loyal, though ;) Honestly it’s a bigger barrier on the finance side.
