I wonder why Reeder isn't on the list. It's mentioned 15 times in the comments so far.

It doesn't work without Google Reader's service. How is it an alternative?

Their twitter feed suggests they're on the case: https://twitter.com/reederapp/status/311995748482945025

No, it also supports Fever. http://brooksreview.net/2012/06/reeder-3/

Plus, this is what the author wrote on Twitter: "Don't worry, Reeder won't die with Google Reader." https://twitter.com/reederapp/status/311995748482945025

Apparently that's only the case for the iPhone version, which is the only one I don't use (as I have an Android phone).

Much as I don't want Google to shutdown Reader (though I'm also relying on the http://www.reederapp.com author sorting out another back-end), I would suggest that the number of people signing the petition is going to be <= the number of people currently using Reader.

And Google have decided that number's not high enough for them to keep it around.

That's a terrible UI. I wanted to add some data, but couldn't work out how to, and gave up in frustration.

I thought the two top-ten lists were upvotes/downvotes until I realized there wasn't a way to disagree with the top ten Pro statements. :(

That's a terrible visualization. It takes way too long to work out what "the story" is.

It's really only useful when interactive - http://www.jasondavies.com/parallel-sets/ - and it still takes a while to figure out what's going on.

Clicking on a Show icicle plot! checkbox down in the article converts this visualization to something much more readable.

I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible visualization, although in general I do believe conditional 2D plots are the best way to show trends in higher dimensions. For example, here are some conditional plots for similar data (Kaggle Titanic competition) that I’ve found insightful.

The conditioning on Sex/Class seems to be the best way to illustrate the trends in these 4 dimensions.

Nice, needs a bit more complexity and slightly less frustration :-)

Since you're being pedantic, the word you were looking for was "pedantry", not pedanticism :-)

AH dammit, you're right.

You forgot the full stop at the end of your sentence.

Sorry, I could not resist! ;-)

- The front page needs to offer me at least a one paragraph overview of what the service is.

- Center-aligned text inputs don't work for me

- the first few steps felt fine, being 'forced' to give details of team members etc started to annoy me: I started thinking "just either tell me what it is now, if it doesn't exist, or let me get on to playing with it". I gave up at that point so don't know if there was a working service at the end :-)
