Do you have links for this? I'm curious about which bodies and what was their argument.

Seems like the CMA are concerned for other advertisers who profit from 3rd-party cookies, no concern for user's privacy. That poor billion dollar industry, how will it cope?

their mandate is to regulate competition

not privacy

The money is in software/tech startups though.

what happened to SentinelOne last week? :o

I meant 2 weeks ago - Chris Krebs "resigned" and S1 had to do a lot of damage control around their Fed business (which is significant as a cybersecurity vendor).

Won't be surprised if Stamos quietly "resigns" in a couple months as well.

because of the Carnot cycle, no? it just doesn't make much sense to store energy as heat

A lot of energy is spent to heat things anyway.

but sorta you can, that's not the hard part

it's that in Factorio there are no problems with phase synchronization, and the devices, consumers, producers, so the machines don't get damaged from a lot of abrupt starting/stopping.

still, it's strange that operators and grid controllers have to do the restart manually.

The machines might still end up being eaten by giant alien bugs due to the power outage shutting down automated defenses. :)

hundreds? what!?

why is it so expensive? :0

was it convenience?

Ceph has a very stable EC feature. And lot of companies use Ceph as a storage backend. Unfortunately I cannot find any straightforward statement about a commercial offering, but I would bet that DreamHost's DreamObjects does use it.

While it's not "commercial", but CERN uses it and many other institutions.

...

ah, okay, finally an AWS S3 presentation that mentions EC :)

Care to share which field is this?

cell/molecular biology

This seems like a straw-man. The stories are much more complex than this (in my experience/opinion), usually directly reporting about immoral acts by peers, lack of support, unfair/inequal treatment, hypocrisy, and so on. The event of the failed reproduction is at best an intermezzo.

Not to mention that we know a lot of overhyped results did fail replication and then powerful figures in academia did their best to pretend that still their thrones were not placed on top of sandcastles.
