Peter Konetchy on Welfare & Poverty

All welfare should be voluntary, via community & churches
Q: Do you oppose or support the statement, "Allow churches to provide welfare services"?A:
Support - All welfare should be voluntary: first through self responsibility, next through family or friends, then through community services such as churches. Last option should be the state only IF THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE DESIRE.

Voluntary charity from family & church, not government
Prosperity breeds compassion. The Unites States is a very prosperous and very compassionate nation. The people of the United States have willingly accepted the responsibility to support those in need. The question facing us today is "what is the best
means of providing support for those in need--voluntary charity by individuals or community, or the forced federal redistribution of funds by the government"?The differences between government and community support are stark.
Government support encourages the breakdown of families and a long term dependant class.
Community support, consisting of family, friends, churches, and local charitable organizations, encourage success for those in need.
It's based on morality, self-responsibility, and self respect. Voluntary support from family, friends, or local charitable organizations tends to develop and maintain strong communities.
