When Julia decided to introduce her new boyfriend to her best friends, Caroline and Laina, she expected a casual meet-and-greet. What she didn’t anticipate was that the introduction would turn into an unforgettable moment. 

Caroline and Laina took first impressions to a whole new level, arriving in full lawyer attire. But, they came prepared with more than just formal looks: in hand was a contract designed to ensure Julia’s boyfriend was worthy of her friendship circle. The women's presentation of the document was captured in a now-viral TikTok. 

“We wanted to be funny,” Laina tells PEOPLE. “This was honestly my brainchild that I came up with, and texted Caroline — two hours before — and said, ‘Should we wear suits?’ And she was like ‘Okay.’ ” 

The contract featured a series of humorous yet heartfelt clauses, including the “Respect and Adoration Clause,” “Food Sharing Police,” “Netflix Integrity Clause” and the “Girls Night Protection Act.” 

To everyone’s surprise, Julia’s boyfriend signed the contract without batting an eyelid — even before reading through all the terms. 

Caroline and Laina had thrown the plan together at the last minute. Despite the short notice, they managed to create a comprehensive contract that left everyone in stitches. 

One of the most touching clauses, the “Respect and Adoration Clause,” mandates that Julia’s boyfriend treat her with kindness, respect and adoration. Meanwhile, the “Netflix Integrity Clause” was a fan favorite, forbidding him from watching any TV series they started together. 

While the prank was hilarious, it also spoke to the strong bond between the three women. “My friends are my platonic soulmates,” Julia shares. “We care for one another deeply. We surprise each other with flowers, lift each other up when needed, and look after one another like family.” 

The trio have been inseparable for about five years. Julia and Caroline grew up together but didn’t form their strong connection until they were adults, while Laina joined their circle through mutual friends. Their friendship is so tight-knit that the “Girls Night Protection Act” remains non-negotiable.

“I feel like I’m not the type of person who would get in a relationship and then suddenly ditch my friends for my significant other,” Julia notes. “But I feel like that happens in so many other relationships.” 

The women also shared some wisdom based on their experience. “Don’t lose yourself in relationships,” Laina advises, while Julia adds, “People lose sight of what’s really important in friendships, and these are my people.”

As for Julia’s boyfriend, he’s been a winner so far and has yet to be held to the contract’s terms in real life. However, he did win major points by baking Julia a lasagna— a gesture that was both romantic and contractually compliant. 

In the end, the viral TikTok video became more than just a funny prank, but a testament to strong friendships. And according to Julia, something similar is bound to happen again.

“If they get in relationships, I’m bringing that type of energy to meet their partners for sure,” Julia shares, hinting that future pranks are brewing.
