Channing Tatum Vows Never to Do ‘Fat Roles’ Again as He Unveils Ripped Physique Following 30-Lbs. Weight Loss

Channing Tatum is vowing to stop gaining weight for movie roles.

On Friday, March 21, the actor, 44, posted a trio of photos of himself on Instagram, showing how his body size has fluctuated throughout the years. He said he will no longer take on “fat roles” because the process is “too hard on the body.”

Tatum showed off his currently buff physique in the first photo as he posed shirtless in black boxers while admiring his reflection in a window.

In the second snap, the Magic Mike star appeared to have a fuller figure as he stood in front of a bathroom mirror. Tatum's third selfie showed him with a visibly slimmer frame while again posing shirtless.

“We back up! Lol,” Tatum wrote in the post's caption. “1st photo is today 205 [pounds], 2nd photo 235 [pounds] for a movie called Josephine. Then went to 3rd photo which is 172 [pounds] for a movie Roofman,” he explained.

“I’m so grateful for my genetics,” the Blink Twice actor said, while also shouting out his chef, nutritionist and trainer. 

“I couldn’t make these big swings in my weight without you guys. But I won’t be doing any more fat roles haha,” Tatum continued. “It’s too hard on the body and too hard to take off now. But damn when I look at these pics it’s just wild what the human body and will can do.”

Tatum’s post comes after he shared a shirtless selfie taken behind the scenes of the upcoming heist film Roofman back in December 2024.

The actor, who plays real-life thief Jerrey Manchester in the film, posted on his Instagram Stories a photo of him in the hair and makeup chair on set while getting his tattoos covered up by makeup artists as he sported a wig cap and goatee.

“Chaos of tattoo covering and wigs,” he wrote over the image.

Tatum previously spoke about finding it hard to stay in shape on The Kelly Clarkson Show in February 2022.

“Truly I don't know how people that work a nine to five actually stay in shape because it's my full time job and I can barely do it," said Tatum. "But you workout twice a day, you have to eat completely right at a certain time. It's a specific thing."

The actor said that it was easier to “fluctuate” weight between roles when he was younger, however, “now, I can’t get it off as easy.”
