Ilana Glazer is pulling back the curtain on her Broadway transformation.

In a video posted on Instagram and TikTok on Thursday, March 27, the comedian and actress, 37, detailed how she gets into her wig to play Shirley Wershba in Broadway's Good Night, And Good Luck.

The play, which began previews on Wednesday, March 12 and opens on Thursday, April 3, chronicles news journalist Edward R. Murrow's legendary exposé on Senator Joseph McCarthy. George Clooney co-wrote the play — which is an adaptation of the 2005 film — alongside Grant Heslov.

Glazer's behind-the-scenes clip shows the Broad City alum seated in the "wig room" before showtime. She introduces her hair assistant, Sarah, who begins by putting the comedian's hair into pun curls.

"She twists [pieces of hair] up and then pins them down to create like a grid of pun curls for this wig and the mic packs to lock into," Glazer explains in a voice over.

As the video shows clips of Glazer and other crew members laughing and joking around, she adds: "Wig time is sacred, the wig room is dope. We are having fun in the wig room."

She continues narrating the wig application, saying, "Then she puts the wig cap over [my] head," she narrates. "I'm loving the wig cap look, anybody else?"

Glazer then explains how two different mic packs are secured over the wig cap and then snaked through the wig, which she jokingly describes as "pounds of technology on my skull." She also reveals that the wig, which is similar to Glazer's own curly brown hair, cost $6,000 and took 40 hours to hand make by four people.

"They tried to match my texture," she says. "I mean, they did match my texture. They wash this hair. It curls up like my hair because it's real a-- human hair. And they put highlights, lowlights, there's all different colors in this hair. And isn't she freakin' cutie?"

Glazer recently opened up to PEOPLE about the grueling demands of Broadway and how her beauty routine has been affected.

While promoting Garnier's new micellar water formula featuring salicylic acid, the actress shared, "I genuinely need the most efficient skincare practice that I can possibly have, because the schedule is so consuming.

She continued: "My brain is so fried by the end of the day, that I just want to make sure that I am as healthy, and feeling as beautiful, as I possibly can," she says. "Every night I'm using my Garnier Micellar Water, I am moisturizing. If it can be a ritual, then it really helps me sleep better."
