Jenna Ortega noticed a distinct difference on the set of Wednesday when Lady Gaga came to Dublin, Ireland, to film her scenes for the show's second season.

The 38-year-old pop star and Joker: Folie à Deux actress will appear in an undisclosed role when the hit Netflix series returns in 2025. During a Tuesday, March 25 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ortega, 22, said that producers went out of their way to dress up the set so that it looked fancier for the celebrity guest star.

"I remember showing up to set and they completely changed everything," she recalled. "We had a normal functioning set. And I remember pulling up to work the day of and suddenly there was like truck after truck after truck."

Ortega noted that she tripped over a walkway that had popped up overnight. She was confused about its purpose but said that it was rolled out so that Gaga could easily move around. That's not where the changes stopped, though.

"I went to my tent to hang out, and they replaced my dirty tent with brand new tents," she said. "I had a barber's chair. They gave me fancy water. Everything."

The team "really wanted to impress" Gaga. However, the changes did not last for long.

"And then the next day, I went back to my dusty setup," Ortega said, joking that she wished Gaga had stayed longer. "But part of it was because the water was really nice,"

Gaga might not have spent a lot of time on set, but she left a lasting impression on Ortega, who said, "She's so sweet and so humble. Just a normal person, and it's beautiful and amazing."

She added that no one knew what to call Gaga and that people just kept saying, "Gaga is coming, Gaga is coming."

Ortega spent between seven and eight months filming the second season of Wednesday in Dublin. While the actress said that the weather wasn't the best, she did "love it there."

Little is known about the upcoming season of Wednesday. However, series star Catherine Zeta-Jones did say that fans should prepare for something "bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine" in a September 2024 teaser from Netflix.

Ortega told E! News that the new season was "very graphic" and praised executive producer Tim Burton for making sure that the production was always engaging.

“Playing a character for eight months, it's not always easy,” she said. “Sometimes it's a crawl to the finish line, but he always keeps it exciting and it's hard to get tired of a character like Wednesday.”

Gaga did not appear in the first season of Wednesday, which starred the likes of Ortega, Zeta-Jones and Christina Ricci. However, she was still associated with the show after her song "Bloody Mary" became involved with a TikTok trend where people recreated a scene from the show.

Season 1 of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix now.
