Earlier this year, the 46-year-old actor, who plays Dr. Max Bankman in the medical drama, revealed that his longtime house had been destroyed in the fires. Months later, he's sharing his plans to bring some of his current series with him as he rebuilds — "eventually." Speaking with PEOPLE about the show’s upcoming crossover episode with 9-1-1, the Dawson's Creek alum revealed that if he could take one thing from the set of the ABC series, it would have to be its comfortable furniture. Tina Thorpe/Disney In January, Jackson confirmed that his home in L.A.’s Topanga neighborhood burned down in the fires, which destroyed thousands of structures and left many residents displaced. It was the star’s childhood home, which he had bought back over two decades ago. In a statement at the time, the actor — who shares a 4-year-old daughter, Juno, with ex Jodie Turner-Smith — said, “First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK. My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely.” “Sadly,” he continued, “my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.” Joshua Jackson Says Working with Angela Bassett Was on Bucket List for 'Years' Before 9-1-1, Doctor Odyssey Crossover (Exclusive) Last fall, long before the fires erupted in California, Jackson revealed that he decided to buy back his childhood home for Juno. “I bought this house for my daughter," he said on an Instagram Live with Dawson's Creek costar Sasha Alexander in September 2024. "Something that's become really clear to me in this year since I asked for the divorce is that I kinda thought, you know in all the dreams you have when you have a baby, the thing I wanted to model for my daughter was like, here's two parents, here's what a man and a woman can look like in a home, in a happy, healthy relationship,” he said at the time. "But what I've realized in this last year is I never got to experience the love of a father.” “And I'm getting to experience it now,” he added. “And that's what this house is for.” Joshua Jackson. Reflecting on the loss on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon earlier this month, the actor said, "It is my childhood home, and it is the place that I’ve lived, on and off, for the last 25 years.” “And was, for the last four and a half years — or four and three-quarters years, as she likes to tell me now — has been the place where my daughter and I, and when my wife and I were still together, where we lived,” he continued. “So, not great.” Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. But looking at the building after the fires, Jackson said, he thought to himself, “This bears no relation to my home. This is just a pile of stuff that burned in a fire.” And now he finds himself “actually excited for the opportunity,” to rebuild, he said. “That house has given me so much over the years, right? And I have loved it, and it has loved me. It has everything: the heartbreak, the baby, just life. All of life is in there,” he explained on The Tonight Show. “Every floorboard is a piece of my story. And I’m excited to build a new house that doesn’t have all of Daddy’s history in it, that is for [Juno] and I.” “So when she grows up, every floorboard has her story in it,” he added at the time. “And so in some ways, it’s not how I would have chosen to do a remodel, but in some ways I’m actually excited about the process.” Close Leave a Comment
