Louis died on March 29, 2024, due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. He was 87. To mark the year since his father's death, Satie, 50, shared a moving tribute on Instagram on Saturday. His post featured a picture of himself and his dad on the day Louis got his filmmaker son his first camera. As Satie explained in the caption, "Here’s a pic of me getting my first camera for my birthday which set me on this myopic, self loathing, self deprecating journey of being a creative." Satie also took a moment to reflect on the loss of his dad. "One year ago today my pop passed. Time went so fast yet so slow. But whatever rate it goes, time always moves regardless of what happens in life and we have to deal, we have to heal. But yet I resent how I feel but there’s no escape so I have to deal. (Bars)." He added a message for Louis: "Dad, please keep the suckas off me. Provide me with the guidance to stay steadfast because I’m already tired. I’m tired of trying and maybe I need to do something to else."
