A man is standing his ground after his female roommate asked him to leave their house for the night when she has her friends over for a birthday slumber party.

In a post on the "Am I the A------?" forum on Reddit, the 21-year-old wrote that he lives in a shared house with "two straight couples, totaling three men and two women, including me. We're all around college age."

Then detailing that one of his roommates is planning to host a 20th birthday party with around 20 people invited, the man said, "I really have no problem with this, and some of my other roommates have also hosted parties in the past, and we've had a good time overall."

"However, this time, she says that she's planning to have some of her friends sleep over and that a couple of them are not comfortable sleeping in the same house with men they don't know," he continued, adding that the roommate "wants me and my friend (the other man in the house) to vacate for the night and sleep somewhere else."

Noting that the woman will "presumably" let her boyfriend stay the night, though, the man further explained, "This is over spring break, so she says that we should just go home or stay with friends for the night."

Now, the man said he is refusing to comply with his roommate's ask, given that the house they all live in is "quite big," and the two boys' bedrooms "are both on the opposite side of the house from hers."

In the comments section of the post, many found the woman's request to be suspicious and suggested there might be more to her reasoning for wanting the two men to vacate.

"My guess is she’s planning to let her friends use [your] room," one person wrote, adding: "I would absolutely be home that day and night."

"Yeah, it sounds like she and her friends planned on having a great guesthouse for their spring break party week — for free! Only problem is if the two 'unreliable' men don’t leave their own home for no reason, the girls won’t have enough free comfy beds to sleep in," someone else theorized.

Others, meanwhile, said it should be the other way around, and that the man should express his discomfort with so many strangers in their home.

"Absolutely tell them no and that you’re starting not to feel comfortable with her in the house because she made you feel less secure," one user wrote. "I’d tell her to move her party to a hotel because that makes as much sense as kicking residents out."

Another added, "You pay rent, so it’s your home too. If her friends aren’t comfortable, that’s on her to figure out, not you."

"She should be finding them other sleeping arrangements, not kicking out her roommates," they continued.
