While speaking on the Monday, March 24 episode of the Jay Shetty Podcast, the couple — who announced their engagement in December — discussed Gomez's love of children after Blanco admitted he couldn't wait to hopefully show their joint album I Said I Love You First to their kids one day. Gomez, 32, shared, "I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children. I have an 11-year-old sister that I absolutely adore," referencing her beloved younger sibling, Gracie. "I love making [children] laugh; they're just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it," the singer added. Benny Blanco Reveals He Once Tried to Set Up Fiancée Selena Gomez with His Friend: 'I Thought She Hated Me' Blanco, 37, commented on his wife-to-be being "the ultimate level of shy," but said that's not always the case when it comes to speaking with children. "When she walks into a room, her main goal is to disappear into the crowd. My mom is very similar, [she] and my mom are very similar," the music producer said. "They’ll wait and say like one thing throughout the night that winds up being the most poignant or funny thing of the night. But I'm gonna have diarrhea of the mouth talking to everyone." "Whenever there’s kids at a place it's the only time I see her do that. She immediately goes to the kids and has these conversations for hours with the kids," he went on, saying that it might have something to do with the fact Gomez is a former child star. "When you started doing this you were a kid and that was your way to connect to people and I feel like you still feel like you have that obligation to connect with young kids," he pointed out. "You shaped so many young people’s lives, whether it was Barney, Wizards [of Waverly Place]... you’re still finding your way to do that." In the discussion about what gave her the "confidence to open up" after planning her future while still trying to "protect" herself, the Only Murders in the Building told the host, "Well I think first of all making plans and trying to stick to them is silly because you don’t know what’s going to happen," adding that she "can't believe" she gets to marry her "best friend." "I think for me I was genuinely set, but it was once I let go of me just saying 'I want someone and I wish I had this, I wish I had that.' Instead, I changed my mind to 'I’m so lucky that I get to wake up and my family is healthy and I love spending time with my friends and if it doesn’t happen, I know I’ve always wanted to be a mom.' You know, so of course I kind of planned that out," Gomez said, adding that her and Blanco's connection is "rare to find." Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez in New York City on March 20, 2025. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it." "Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone," the actress continued, noting that her friendship with Blanco turned romantic. "It just happens when you least expect it." Gomez and Blanco have been linked since June 2023 but confirmed their romance in December 2023, before making their official debut as a couple at the 2024 Emmys that January. Close Leave a Comment
