Just in time for the 20th anniversary of The Office, Brian Baumgartner and Kate Flannery, who played Kevin Malone and Meredith Palmer on the hit series, respectively, have linked up with Chili's to serve as brand ambassadors as the chain restaurant breaks new ground in a ___location all too familiar to fans of the show: Scranton, Penn. "They're righting this incredible wrong by actually having a Scranton branch of Chili's, right?" Flannery tells PEOPLE of the collaboration. "So all is right with the world because of this." Indeed, the beloved chain restaurant, referenced on multiple occasions throughout The Office and effectively solidifying itself as a part of its universe as a result, never actually operated a ___location in the Pennsylvania town where the show took place, until now. Here’s What the Actors Have Been Up to 20 Years After Introducing the World to Dunder Mifflin Flannery elaborates, "Actually, if you're a fan of the show and you go to Scranton and you want to go to some of the locations mentioned, they don't look like they did on the show. But if you go to the Scranton branch of Chili's, it's going to look exactly like our show. So it's a great photo-op place. Somebody's thinking, somebody's really thinking." With the Scranton Chili's ___location's official grand opening on April 7, The Office fans can simultaneously step into the world of their favorite show via throwback nods and decor exclusive to the Scranton Chili's ___location. This will include a Chili’s Scranton Branch chalk art mural created by the original Chili’s artist from the early 2000s who worked on the show, as well as vintage artwork, Chili’s iconic throwback tile tables and the cherry on top: an official business lunch booth to eat your Triple Dipper and discuss current happenings, Dunder Mifflin-style. Additionally, the Scranton ___location will be the only Chili’s to include the fan-favorite, previously discontinued Awesome Blossom on the menu. Baumgartner, whose partnership with Chili's for this endeavor sees him repping the Awesome Blossom, says of its return, "Well, in terms of the Awesome Blossom ... one, it's awesome. But two, it was taken off the menu at Chili's ... I think it's difficult to make. They made some menu changes, but exclusively for this branch of Chili's, they have brought back the Awesome Blossom. We ate a lot of blossoms and they were indeed awesome when I was there, so I think that's really fun." For Flannery, whose lovable character on The Office was never one to turn down a drink, teaming up with Chili's to launch their special $5 "Scranton Marg" as a part of the effort in the Pennsylvania town so iconic to The Office is brand synergy at its finest. Chili's Ellie Kemper Spills Secrets on The Office Cast's Group Chat — Like Who Sends the Funniest Messages (Exclusive) "On April 7th, they're going to have a Scranton Marg for five bucks, only for one day, Flannery says, before joking, "So no fighting one day. It's like St. Patrick's Day, except it's a Margarita day in April. So everyone ... can have a Scranton Marg on April 7th for five bucks. Did you know that Chili's sells more margaritas than any other establishment? They literally have like 25 million sold. They should really have a sign like the hamburger joint. I mean, it's crazy." Speaking to the quality of the new beverage despite its low price point, Flannery adds, "My dad owned a bar. You've got to be really consistent. They got it. They got it dialed in so you can trust it." The Awesome Blossom will be available exclusively on the menu at the Scranton Chili's, while the Scranton Marg will be available at all Chili's locations on April 7. Awesome Blossoms and Scranton Margs aren't the only ways fans can join in on the fun, though. Chili’s Scranton Branch merch will also go live on April 7, offering a pair of T-shirts to celebrate the opening of the brand's new ___location. One will be available through a social media giveaway to start, but both will ultimately be available to all at welcometochilis.com shortly after. Close Leave a Comment
