Access to our resources for newly arrived ELLs
To support the equitable and inclusive instruction of MLs and ELLs, the Division of Multilingual Learners has scaffolded these units from the most commonly used core curricula in the NYC DOE. In addition to using these recommended scaffolds with students, educators can utilize these resources: 1) as research-supported models to scaffold other units in the curriculum, 2) as illustrative guides for exploring and examining the different goals, reasons and approaches to scaffolding curriculum for MLs and ELLs, or 3) as collaborative professional learning tools for teams of educators to compare to their own curricula and/or current scaffolding approaches for best practices.
For a resource with scaffolds that are anchored in six instructional goals to increase MLs and ELLs grade-level knowledge and language/literacy development, read Scaffolding Instruction for Multilingual Learners and English Language Learners, K-12.
Call for Feedback! Please complete this survey to help us better understand how our scaffolded units were used to support instruction for MLs and ELLs, as well as make plans for future professional learning and new resources for scaffolding. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete—thank you in advance for your time!
