The Aakash, a tablet designed and manufactured in India, has a government subsidized price of US $35, according to BBC News.
The tablet, translated as "Sky," was built with students in mind. A commercial version of the tablet is set to retail at a maximum of $60.
The government of India has plans to distribute the tablet in the small towns and villages around internet-poor India.
There are plans to sell the tablet internationally, but we see little room for a bare bones tablet that has no brand name recognition. Of course if it works well, then this will give Amazon and Apple a kick in the rear.
