INTRODUCTION
The word Islam
is derived from an Arabic root-word SLM which means submission
to Allah. It describes a state of total submission to the will of Allah. In its true meaning, the state of devotion is expected to be absolute, both in word and in deed.
Under what circumstances can true submission to Allah be achieved?
Is Islam an exclusive right of any particular religion religious group?
We often hear Muslims or followers of the path that was laid by Muhammad refferring to themselves exclusively as Muslims. All other religions are branded Kaffirs
or teachings of infidels or unbelievers. In the eyes of those who claim to be Muslims, all unbelievers are doomed for hell for deviating from the path.
Does the Quran affirms this position? Who is a true Muslim? This question is the central theme we want to seek answers from both the Quran and the Bible.
CHAPTER 1
THE COMFORTER -
THE HOLY SPIRIT OR MUHAMMAD?
The Great Controversy:
According to the Quran, Jesus said,
Sura 61:6
And (remember) when `Isa, son of Maryam, said: O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Tawrah [which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.
But when he came to them with clear proofs, they said: This is plain magic.
––––––––
Ahmad is essentially the same name as Muhammad and both names mean The Praise One.
However, there is no record in the Bible of such a saying by Jesus nor is the name Ahmad mentioned anywhere. This is disturbing for Muslims since they accept that the Gospel contains the sayings and actions of Jesus.
However, in the Gospel of John, when Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure He did speak about a "Comforter" who was to come after Him (John 14:16, 26; 15:26 and 16:7). This word Comforter
in the english of King James Version of the Bible is used to translate the Greek word Paraklêtos. It can also be translated as Advocate
or Counselor
The new International Version).
The Muslim Doctors contend that Paraklêtos is a corruption of another Greek word - Periklytos, which they argue means Praise One
and will be the translation of Ahmad
in the Greek. They therefore insist that Periklytos was the original word occurring in the Greek manuscript of John Gospel and that Christians altered this word to conceal the evidence for the coming of the prophet Muhammad.
Those who contended that there has been a falsification of the name, do not however, have any problem with the nature and functions of the Comforter as given by Jesus in the Gospels. They maintain that in every way Muhammad fulfilled these functions and may therefore be identified as the one described as the Comforter
in the Bible.
On the other hand, Christians have understood clearly from Jesus' words and the context that the Comforter is the Holy Spirit, the third member in the Godhead.
For the sake of our investigation into the real identity of the Comforter,
therefore, it becomes imperative that we study every truth about the Comforfer. Based on the descriptive roles given by Jesus, rather than on the name itself.
We will use the Quran and the Bible as the only authoritative and reliable sources of reference, for information about Muhammad and the Comforter. From this we will determine whether the nature and the works of the Comforter befit Muhammad.

ANOTHER COMFORTER
We now begin a systematic search through the Quran and the Bible for absolute truths about the Comforter which Jesus spoke of in the Bible. Let us pray against any spiritual blindness in the name of Jesus.
