Extra session of the U. S. Senate. Washington, March 19.
--Mr. Douglas' resolutions were up.
Mr. Clingman, of N. C., argued that the Inaugural meant war, and that war was the real purpose of the Administration.
Within the last three days he had information of heavy guns and large reinforcements going South to take possession of forts in North Carolina, Virginia, and elsewhere.
Messrs. Hale, Chandler and Simmons replied.
After an Executive session, the Senate
Adjourned.
Heavy snow storm at Wilmington. Wilmingtnn, N. C., March 19.
--A heavy snow storm prevailed at this place last night.
Snow fell four inches deep, on a level, accompanied by sleet and a high wind.
The storm continued till 4 o'clock this morning.
It extended as far South as Milledgeville.
During the storm the roof of the engine and locomotive house fell in. Only one man was hurt.
The building was a large one.

Marine Disasters. Norfolk, March 19.
--Schooner Susan F. Abbott, from Philadelphia, bound for Savannah, arrived here in distress, sails gone, masts sprung.
British schooner Wrenn, of St. Andrews, from Matanzas, bound for New York with molasses, abandoned at sea Friday.
Her crew were taken off by the schooner Edward Herbert, and brought here.

Staunton, Va., March 19.
The session of yesterday afternoon was occupied principally in the examination of character.
A large number of names were called and passed.
Ellis Jones was discontinued at his own request.
Conference met this morning, and religious exercises were conducted by T. H. W. Monroe.
The Journal was read and approved.
James C. McDonough, of Leesburg, (a local preacher,) was elected to Deacon's orders.
The report of the Conference Stewards was presented $7,000 will be necessary to meet the claims of the ensuing year.
The order of the day was taken up. Wm. Hirst desired to present a paper received by him from individuals in Baltimore, intended for the Conference.
On motion, it was read.
It contained--
1.
an earnest expression of desire for unity in the Conference.
2. an expression of sympathy with Virginia brethren,

Fire — loss of life — suicide.Boston,March 19.
--An old wooden building in Roxbury, known as "Canal Block," occupied by several Irish families, was destroyed by fire early this morning; John Smith, his wife and daughter, and John Kelly, perished in the flames.
John Leighton, ex-police officer, committed suicide this morning with laudanu
Bark ashore--eight persons drowned.Boston,March 19.
--The bark Harvest Queen, of New York, from Buenos Ayres, for Boston, is among the breakers of Scituate, and will be ashore at low water.
Eight of her crew were drowned in attempting to land.--The captain was saved.
Assistance has been dispatched to her relief.
The Missouri States Convention. St. Louis, March 19.
--Major Wright concluded his speech in the Convention this morning, after which the first and second resolutions reported by the majority of the Committee on Federal Relations were passed — the first with but one dissenting voice, and the second unanimously.
Mr. Hough moved to amend the second resolution, as follows: That, wishing to restore peace to our country we desire the Federal Government to withdraw the troops from the forts now occupied by them in the seceded States.
The amendment was laid on the table.
Mr. Post offered the following as an addition to the third resolution: And that in the event of a refusal by the Northern States to agree to such an adjustment of the slavery question, and our sister border slave States shall decide to change their relations with the General Government, Missouri will not hesitate to take her stand in favor of her Southern brethren.
This was lost by ayes 22; nays 68

--Runaway, on the 19th of March, a Woman, named Nancy, whom I purchased of H. Stern, of this city.
She is of medium size, rather spare made, of a ginger- bread color; has a different look when spoken to; is 13 years old; has a blister scar on her neck.
She was sold last Christmas at the sale of Wm. Andrews, deceased, nine miles above the city.
She may now be in that neighborhood, or near Slash Cottage as she has a mother living at Mr. Wm. Wise's, near that place, in Hanover county.
She was hired to Mr. Samuel Allen, of this city, last year, and has a husband hired to Mr. Ballard, of the Exchange Hotel, by the name of Dolphins.
