A steam frigate off the Bar. --At an early hour this morning a large steam frigate made her appearance off this harbor, and for some time there was much speculation as to her nationality, but about mid-day the steamer Charleston took on board a party of gentlemen, and proceeded outside the port for the purpose of finding out the character of the vessel. She succeeded in getting within three miles of her, when the frigate stood off, and apparently was disposed to avoid intercourse. Sufficient was observed, however, to announce her as a large United States steam frigate, and is, no doubt, the Minnesota, Commodore Stringham, which vessel has come here to enforce the blockade. The Minnesota is a frigate of the first class, and is heavily armed. She was built at the same time of the Niagara, Wabash, Roanoke, &c.--Charleston (S. C. ) News, May 29
Sentenced --The negro who assaulted a policeman on Friday night last, says the Charleston News, May 29, was brought up for trial Wednesday morning before a Court of Fresholders. The sentence of the court was that he undergo an imprisonment in solitary confinement for six months, and receive twenty paddles each month.
te Williamsport have retired in the direction of Martinsburg. Four Pennsylvania Regiments arrived this morning, also Major Kelm. Four other Regiments are expected to-day. Wheeling, May 30.--The Ohio and Virginia Federal troops have occupied Grafton. The Secession troops retreated without firing a shot. Cincinnati, May 30.--Col. Crittenden's In- diana regiment has arrived and marched to Camp Dennison. They are probably destined for Grafton. Another Indiana regiment passed Dayton this afternoon. New York, May 30.--The second Maine regiment left here this evening by the cars for Washington. The schooner Urbana has arrived from Indianola, Texas, via Havana, with two companies of the Second Infantry, under Capt. Jordan Greene. Harrisburg, May 29.--There are now on the west bank of Paxton Creek, at this city, some four hundred horses and about seventy baggage wagons. It is understood that they will move in the direction of Chambersburg in a few days.

Elected to Congress. Cincinnati, May 29. --Richard Harrison the Independent Union candidate, has been elected to Congress from the Seventh Ohio District, to fill Tom Corwin's vacancy. He defeats Harlan, the Republican nominee.
The Kentucky Tobacco Fair. Louisville, May 29. --The Tobacco Fair held at Spratt's warehouse to-day was a decided success. Two hundred and fifty-three hhds. were opened for competition, which sold at prices exceeding the average of last year.
Sailing of the America. Boston, May 29. --The steamship America sailed at noon with fifty passengers, but no specie.
