Aug. 27, 1683.   He m., 2d, Rebecca Cutter, June 3, 1724; and d. Feb. 22, 1739.   Dec. 24, 1680, he, with John Hall, Thomas Willis, Stephen Willis, and Stephen Francis, divided the Collins Farm between them; Caleb Hobart having previously sold John W. one-fourth of this estate. In addition to this land, he owned the house shown on a preceding page, and also land in Billerica and Charlestown. more of Medford. She was b. at Newbury 9 Feb. 1662, dau. of John and Mary (Scullard) Rolfe. Her father, John Rolfe, of Cambridge, originally from Newbury, came hither about 1670, from Nantucket Island. She and husband William Cutter were admitted to membership of Cambridge church 28 July, 1700. By Cutter she had ten children, nine of whom attained maturity and gave birth to a numerous progeny. He d. 1 Apr. 1723, aet. 74, and she m. on 3 June, 1724, her second husband Whitmore, who d. 22 Feb. 1739-40, a. 84. She gave six pounds toward procuring utensils for the communion table of the Pct. ch. at organization, 1739. Those constituting her gift are inscribed, The gift of Rebeckah Whitmore to the 2d Church of Christ in Cambridge, 1739. See Cutter Book, 21, 25, 411, &c. 2. Stephen, 3d, of Medford, m. rge of it. Later on he was asked to render an account of the money so received. This must have been considered satisfactory, as he was made deacon of the church February 1, 1713, and signed the covenant. He was elected Selectman in 1712, and Town Treasurer in 1714. He was married twice. His first wife, as I have said, was Rachel Eliot. She was a niece of the Apostle Eliot, and widow of John Poulter. When she died is not known, but he married Rebecca Cutler June 3, 1724. He died February 22, 1739, and his funeral sermon was preached by Parson Turell from Acts 21, 16th verse: There went with us also certain of the disciples of Cesarea and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge. The two oldest of the children of John Whitmore were twins, born May 8, 1678. Abigail married John Elder. As his name does not occur again in the history of Medford, they probably lived in another town. Francis, however, lived and died here, February 6, 17
