ickens county, S. C., where he has followed the pursuits of a farmer and school teacher. From 1890 to 1894 he served in the capacity of school commissioner of Pickens county, and in the fall of 1898 was elected superintendent of education of Pickens county, a position he now holds. He is adjutant of Dacusville camp, U. C. V. He Was formerly postmaster at the office of Maynard, S. C., and since his election as school commissioner in 1890 his wife has been postmistress. He was married September 19, 1870, to Margaret Jane Williams, and they have five daughters. Major Robert L. Brodie, M. D., of Charleston, commander of Sumter camp, U. C. V., is a native of that city and was educated at the Charleston college, graduating in 1848. Then entering upon the study of medicine he was graduated at the Charleston medical college in 1851, and was two years house physician in Bellevue hospital, New York.
