--A special dispatch to the Advertiser, dated Tupelo, 3d, says:
Intelligence from the front of our lines states that the enemy's report confirms the defeat of the Federal armies in Virginia, and announces a loss of 3,000 prisoners. The same information states that the defeated armies were falling back on Arlington Heights, where a stand was to be made, and the news of the great victory in Virginia will soon be received in the West.
First bale of New Cotton.
--The first bale of new cotton received in this city arrived yesterday.
It was from the plantation of Mr. Hines, of Crittenden county, Arkansas 9 miles from this city.
Fifty cents per pound was the price it was held at. Memphis Union, Sept. 3.
