The Yankees raid upon Fredericksburg.
It seems that the entrance of the enemy into Fredericksburg on Sunday was unknown to our forces there until their fire was opened.
They came into the town about half-past 8 o'clock in the morning.
They numbered in all about one hundred and forty, about one hundred entering the town, and the others remaining on the opposite side of the river.
Capt. Simpson, of the Chesapeake cavalry, 15th regiment, Col. Ball, formed his company after the enemy came into the town, and while they were around him, and made a charge, in which he captured five, killed two, and wounded one Yankee.--The enemy then retreated, and Capt. S. being informed that there was a regiment on the other side of the river, withdrew his command from the town, and formed in line of battle in an elevated field near by.
