At the annual March meeting, Voted, to raise three thousand dollars (if needed) for recruiting purposes. Brewster furnished one hundred and forty-one men for the war, which was a surplus of seventeen over and above all demands. None of them were commissioned officers in the military service. There were probably some in the navy. The whole amount of moned and expended by the town for aid to soldiers' families, and afterwards reimbursed to it by the State, was as follows: In 1861, 00; in 1862, $291.96; in 1863, $1,024.00; in 1864, $1,819.20; in 1865, $1,221.07.
