Solomon Green and Thomas Didamus, free negroes, were tried for stealing $64 in bank notes from Captain Edward O'Brien, at the Powhatan House, on the 1st day of April. --The court adjudged them guilty, and determined that, instead of being confined in the Penitentiary, they should be sold into absolute slavery by the City Sergeant. Bill Scott, a free negro, was ordered to be sold into absolute slavery, for having, on the 15th day of March, falsely represented to Elizabeth Brown that he had obtained for her a substitute for — Saunders, to work on one of the batteries near this city, whereby the said Scott pocketed $30, the nett proceeds of the swindle. An indictment against Martin Maddux, for an assault, was dismissed on defendant paying the cost of court. A rule was awarded against Wm. E. Roane, for not appearing when solemnly called as a witness against James, a slave, charged with felony. Arthur Fergusson was fined $10 by a jury for an assault
