Brown, and Charles Dillingham were chosen a committee, to see what action the town should take in regard to war matters. The committee reported as follows:— First, That the treasurer of the town be authorized, with the assent and at the discretion of the selectmen, to borrow a sum not exceeding four thousand dollars, in sums as shall be needed for the benefit of the families of those in this town who may enlist in the service of the Government, in defence of our constitutional liberties.
