ut the very fact of the marked dropping off only seemed to stimulate those who remained to greater effort, to larger sacrifice for the cause. The vacancies were soon made good, and the affairs of the parish assumed their normal condition. Among those added to the parish during the succeeding months were some great workers, who have done much during all these years past to establish the society on a firm basis, Mr. and Mrs. Horatio Williams, George Stevens, George D. Haven, S. R. Briggs, James and Lewis Lombard being among those added. It was at such critical times as this that the Ladies' Sewing Circle did great work for the parish. Always of the utmost value in furthering the objects of the society, always alert and abounding in resourceful methods for replenishing the treasury, or of imparting new life to the flagging courage or the wilting enthusiasm of the overworked parishioners, they stood as an object lesson of indomitable devotion and loyalty to the cause of this chur
