House of Representatives. Saturday, March 29, 1862. The House met at 12 o'clock, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr. Petbekis. Journal of yesterday read. The Speaker announced the members of the committee of conference with the Senate on the disagreement between the two Houses on the pay of the mileage of members of the Provisional Congress. The committee on the part of the House--Messrs. Curry of Ala., Chambers of Miss, and Hoit of Geo. The Speaker laid before the House a communication from the Secretary of War, in response to the resolution requesting reports of the several Colonels engaged in the battle of Leesburg. Read and laid on the table. A message was also received from the Secretary of the Treasury, submitting a report with reference to the payment of the war tax, asking instructions from Congress; which was read at length.
