Lieut. G. Fred Gould
September 22, Sergeant G. Fred. Gould was commissioned as First Lieutenant in the 29th Unattached Co. of Massachusetts Heavy Artillery, and William E. Endicott as Second Lieutenant in the 30th Unattached Co.; but the latter did not accept his commission.
He was a prisoner of war at the time but later declared his preference for the post of a cannoneer to that of a line officer in either Heavy Artillery or Infantry.
