Flood in the Southwest
--The Na Courtier, of May 17th, says:
Our friends at Vidalia, opposite Natchez are suffering terribly from the back-water out of Lake Concordia.
The overflow of that lake has covered nearly every plantation this side, on the river front.
For miles, the country now presents one great of water, with an occasional building and a few trees above the flood.
Our planters in Concordia parish are suffering terribly.
There is a decided fall in the water reported at Memphis, but its effects will not reach here for many days — not in time, as we had ardently hoped, to save much distress from the flood.
