--The operator at Pass Christian telegraphed this morning as follows:
"The enemy shelled Pass Christian yesterday, landed 2,400 troops, and attacked us with 2,000 men and twelve 24-pounder howitzers.
Our force was 300 men and two 6 pounder howitzers.
I was in the fight and had a narrow escape."
